How to get X Money and the X Card (2026 guide)

Updated October 16, 2026. Every fact on this page comes from the official X Money FAQ and @XMoney. Not affiliated with X.

X Money is the money account built into X. It pays up to 6.00% APY and comes with the X Card, a Visa debit card. Here's how to get it.

Who can sign up

Money is still rolling out to U.S. residents, and X says it will notify you once it's available on your account.

How to sign up, step by step

  1. Log in to your X account and open the Money tab. If you don't see it yet, Money hasn't rolled out to your account.
  2. Enter your legal name, date of birth, Social Security Number, phone number and full residential address (no PO boxes). U.S. rules require identity checks.
  3. If your details don't match public records, upload a photo of a valid government ID and take a selfie.
  4. Accept the account opening documents.
  5. Add a passkey (Settings > Security and Privacy > Credentials). A passkey is required to sign in to Money.
  6. Fund the account by ACH, wire, instant debit card load, cash at participating retailers, mobile check deposit, or a P2P transfer from another X user.

Faster verification tips: match your government ID exactly, include your apartment or unit number, and use good lighting with no glare on your ID photo.

How to get the X Card

How to qualify for 6% APY

You get 6.00% APY in either of two ways:

  1. Subscribe to the Premium, Super or Ultra plan on The X Subscription (legacy X Premium+ also counts).
  2. Or receive $1,000 or more in qualifying deposits within a trailing 34 days. A qualifying deposit is an ACH direct deposit with SEC code PPD (such as payroll) or an X Creator payout (Original Content Rewards, Creator Revenue Sharing or Creator Subscriptions).

Everyone else earns 4.00% APY. Free and Plus users earn the 6% boost only through qualifying deposits. APY isn't available to New York residents. To set up direct deposit, go to Money > Settings > Direct Deposit. You can connect automatically through Pinwheel or manually, and paychecks can arrive up to 2 days early.

Cashback

Paid X Subscription plans (and legacy Premium or Premium+) earn up to 3% cashback on eligible X Card purchases. Everyone else earns 1%, or up to 3% with the same $1,000-in-34-days qualifying deposits.
